Oh Nuts!

We had quite an eventful Saturday this past weekend. It started off like any other Saturday. Morgan and I got up, played a bit, I made coffee and something to eat for both of us. I thought I'd have toast with peanut butter and banana for both of us, since she'd never tried peanut butter before. She loved it! Within less than a minute, I noticed her rubbing her eyes. Then I noticed little red bumps around her eyes. Within about 3 minutes her eyes were swelling, and I called Telecare. That was a waste of another 3 minutes while a receptionist told me a nurse would call me back in about 15 minutes. I was panick-stricken as Morgan's eyes started to swell almost shut. I yelled at Jody who was in the shower that we needed to go to the hospital. We piled in the car as fast as we could, got to the ER, and were immediately swept into an examination room (it's good to know that when it is actually an emergency, you will be seen immediately). Of course I was in tears at this point, but they cared for Morgan right away, and the swelling started to go down. Talk about scarey. So, needless to say, no peanuts for Morgan.

Spring Has Sprung

We have been a little under the weather around here this past week. Morgan was quite sick all last week, and of course her father came down with a little something by the time the weekend rolled around. Luckily, whatever they had missed me. Everyone is feeling better just in time for spring.

Morgan had her first haircut last week. I held out as long as I could, but her hair was getting pretty scraggly. She needed to be held through the sheering, and I nearly got a pair of scissors in the eye, but the end result is that she can see once again.

I had a baby shower for my cousin Erica this past weekend. I got crafty and made a diaper cake.

What a cutie...

Weekend Fun

Morgan and I had a girls' day on Saturday since Jody had to study. It was above freezing, so we went to the market, did the mall crawl and then it was home for a nap. Then we went to Odell Park with the Keats family where William did some sliding and tree climbing, and we all did a little walking and playing the in the snow. It was great to get some fresh air and exercise.

Here's the snow bunny before we headed out.

Here is Emily and Morgan who are a month apart, and hopefully will be great friends as they get older. They certainly were interested in one another.

Sharing a laugh.

Nutty, Buggy, Squirrelly, Crazy

Morgan seems to be doing new things almost daily which is pretty fun. She says new words like pear, happy, book and ball. Oh yeah, and she says Ottawa. Well, it sounds an awful lot like Ottawa, and I don't know what she's trying to say, but it is part of her vocabulary. We figure she wants to visit our nations capital, or maybe she's heard the kids at daycare talk about Ottawa.

The cold weather continues here in New Brunswick, and I am seriously wishing we were heading south this winter. Unfortunately, that's not in our immediate future, so I'm banking on things warming up soon.

We have been noticing that we have quite the wild life in the yard of our new house. We see several deer almost daily, a wood pecker, chipmunk and a squirrel. Not bad for the middle of winter. I am reminded of a little squirrel that used to be my arch nemesis in Quincy. We lived in a top floor apartment, and there was a squirrel that used to get into the roof and scratch on our ceiling. I was convinced that he was going to scratch a hole right through and wreak havoc on our apartment. In the summer, he used to hang out on our patio, tip over empty beer bottles, stare at me through the glass door, lay down on the patio, and once he even peed write outside the door while looking at me. It was almost as if he was saying "screw you McSkinney". I hated that darn squirrel. He wasn't scared of us at all. Jody would try to scare him away with a hockey stick, to no avail. Of course we couldn't go outside when he was out there, because we feared he might come right on in the apartment. Ah, the good old days. I have a story about a guy I worked with that brought a flying squirrel to work, but I'll save that one for another day.
