American at Par

This is the first time in my memory (and I'm getting old as some people like to point out) that the Canadian and American dollars are pretty much worth the same amount. We Canadians are familiar with the saying "Canadian at par", and I guess it plays into our inferiority complex. So when I thought of American at par, it struck me kind of funny. Come to Canada and we will give you a full dollar for that green back you've got clenched in your mit. It is certainly cause for buzz among many of my friends who see this as the perfect time to head south of the border and work ourselves up into a shopping frenzy. I can't wait!

In other news, word on the street has it that uncle Jared has moved home. We are excited to have him here, and Morgan is happy that she'll see both her uncles on a regular basis.

Here is a picture I took while trying to get creative. My photography teacher would be so proud - if only I hadn't dropped out of his class :)

What a week

Every year for one week in September, Fredericton comes alive and people are out and about all week long. The Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival takes place during the middle of September which luckily for me coincides with my birthday so people are usually up for a little celebrating.

The Tragically Hip rolled into town on Tuesday which wasn't part of the festival, but it was the first time they'd been here in about 15 years. We got great seats and they put on a great show. On Friday night we went out for some of the jazz festival and dinner with friends.

I decided that since Morgan will be 2 in a few months, it was high time she get to work around the house doing chores, so here she is swiffering the floors :)

Morgan and I went downtown to see Homemade Jam play this afternoon who are group of siblings (I think ranging in age from 8-14?) from Mississippi, and they were awesome. Since mom and dad and Art and Gloria are all out of town on my birthday, my aunt and uncle took pity on me and invited us over for a birthday supper. We had a great time. I love my birthday and love all the fun that comes along with it. Only 364 days until my next big day...

Fleeting Summer Days

Morgan went to the FREX with her grandparents this week, and here was a shot of her first merry-go-round ride.

I bought this skirt over a year ago, and really thought that she would be about 5 before she would be able to fit into it. One year later and it now fits her. Her jean jacket has ballerinas on it with the same skirts. I just thought she was as cute as a button...

We went to Maya's 3rd birthday party on Saturday where we enjoyed ice cream, the petting zoo and Perley the Magician. From there I went to Tricia's birthday party. Happy Birthday Dishy!

I hosted a baby shower today for Tabitha, my cousins' wife. Suzanne, you would be proud of me - I even had 2 games!!!

After the shower, my cousin Jason took me for a ride in the Shelby Cobra. Wahoo!!!!

How'd It Get This Late So Early?

It's hard to believe that Labour Day is behind us. A big thank you to the Slipps for having us over to their camp for a great last weekend of summer. The Lydons were there too, and the Reeves' stopped by for a visit as well. The kids are all pretty close in age and they had a good time together. We played in the lake, roasted marshmellows by the campfire, ate ice cream at the canteen, and we girls (over the age of 2) even took a quick (which turned out being not so quick) shopping trip south of the border.

Here is Morgan with her first ice cream cone which was entirely her own. Its a good thing her top was chocolate brown to match the ice cream!

There were ducks and loons nearby.

This man and his horse just happened to be walking down the road.

Do you ever get the feeling that someone is looking over your shoulder?
